In August, ASCP members cast their votes for members of the ASCP Resident Council. The newly elected Council members assumed their offices at the Annual Meeting in Las Vegas in October.

Dominique Coco, MD (Resident Council chair 2006-2007) University of Florida Gainesville, FL Phone: (352)392-4495 Email: cocod@pathology.ufl.edu Dr. Coco is a fourth-year resident at the University of Florida with two years’ prior experience as a general surgery resident.  He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2001.  His professional focus is on gastrointestinal and livery pathology.  He will begin a two-year surgical pathology and GI/liver pathology fellowship next year at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.  Born in Marksville, LA, he is married to Jessica Starr, DVM (small animal veterinarian).  He is a full-time LSU and UF sports fan, and lists running and reading as hobbies.

Anna M. Moran, MD (Resident Council chair-elect 2006-2007) Milton S. Hershey Medical Center/Penn State University Hospital Hershey, PA Email: annamoranmd@hotmail.com Dr. Moran is a fourth-year pathology chief resident at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center/Penn State University. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland in 2000, and completed one year preliminary Internal Medicine training prior to entering Pathology. Originally from Reading, PA, she was married to Christopher Krowicki, DDS, on October 14, 2006. She intends to complete fellowship in dermatopathology. For hobbies, Dr. Moran enjoys photography, travel, and history and has special interests in leadership development, spokesperson activities, and residency issues.

He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Shreveport in May 2004. He earned his bachelor of science in microbiology from LSU in Baton Rouge. Dr. Henderson is originally from Livingston, Louisiana. He enjoys playing the piano, traveling, and following LSU sports

Jonathan Koehler, MD University of Mississippi Medical Center Jackson, MS Phone: (601)984-1545 E-mail: jkoehler@pathology.umsmed.edu Dr. Koehler is a third-year resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1982, completed Family Practice residency at an LSU affiliated hospital in Lake Charles, LA, and practiced Family and Emergency Medicine from 1985-2004. He is board-certified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics and certification with the American Board of Medical Management. Originally from Alexandria, LA, Dr. Koehler is married with two sons. His hobbies include running, backpacking, golf, Bible study, and watching his sons snow ski/snowboard and play baseball. He notes that he “lives and dies with LSU Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals and mostly dies with New Orleans Saints.” After growing up and training in Louisiana, he spent 15 years in Utah and loved the mountains and desert canyons. He loves training in Pathology.

He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in May 2005. Dr. Payne is originally from Jackson, Mississippi and attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas for his undergraduate degree in biochemistry. He is married and has two beautiful girls, a 23 month old, and a baby born this past September. He enjoys collecting and restoring antique model trains and watching the Baylor Bears in his spare time.

He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia in 2005. Originally from Malden, Massachusetts, Dr. Rittershaus notes that he "lives and dies" with the Boston Red Sox, and his goal is to be the team pathologist. Dr. Rittershaus and his wife also enjoy Virginia Tech football.

S. Joseph Sirintrapun, MD Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles, CA Phone: (310)423-1570 E-Mail: sirints@gmail.com Dr. Sirintrapun is currently a fellow at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in genitourinary pathology under Dr. Mahul Amin. For 2007, he is going to be a fellow in informatics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center under Dr. Michael Becich. He received his doctor of medicine degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia in Columbia Missouri. He completed four years of urologic surgery training at the University of Iowa from 1999-2003, and was a pathology resident at Saint Louis University from 2003-2005. He is originally from St. Louis, Missouri.   Dr. C. Bruce Alexander, MD, FASCP, serves as ASCP Resident Council Board Liaison, and Dr. Lee Hilborne, MD, FASCP, serves as Resident Council Advisor. Dr. Hilborne has the distinction of having served as the first Chair of the former Resident Physician Section, which was formed in 1986.
