Lunchtime Teleconference Series Covers Antibody Identification
ASCP and the American Red Cross (ARC) Immunohematology Reference Laboratories (IRL) are teaming up again for another series of four lunchtime case study teleconferences on the second Friday of each month from September through December 2007. The purpose of the series is to help participants recognize initial test parameters of specific categories of antibody identification problems, state the next steps to resolve red cell antibody identification steps, and identify resources available for complex case resolution.
The series opens Sept. 14 with the program, "ABO Anomalies" presented by Molly A. Harrison, MT(ASCP), Technical Specialist III with the ARC Greater Alleghenies Region in Johnstown, PA. On Oct. 12, Joy P. Vollenweider, MT(ASCP)SBB, IRL Technologist with the American Red Cross, Indiana-Ohio Region in Fort Wayne, IN, will cover "Positive DAT's and Eluates."
"Warm Autoantibodies with Underlying Antibody (e) and Molecular Testing" is the topic for the Nov. 9 teleconference with instructor Maria Burgess, MT(ASCP)SBB, Supervisor, Reference Laboratory Services, American Red Cross Blood Services in Norfolk, VA. The final session covers "Drug-Induced Antibody Detection" on Dec. 14. Instructor is Peggy L. Ball, MT(ASCP), Manager, IRL at American Red Cross, Indiana-Ohio Region, Fort Wayne.
All sessions run from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Central Time, for 0.5 CME/CMLE credit hours per session. Cost is $400 for the four-part series, or $460 with optional audio CDs. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. CT on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007.
