Founded in 1922, the American Society for Clinical Pathology is a professional society with 130,000 member pathologists and laboratory professionals. Based in Chicago, the ASCP provides excellence in education, certification, and advocacy on behalf of patients, pathologists, and laboratory professionals.

The ASCP sponsors close to 400 workshops, symposia, teleconferences and self-study programs annually. In addition, the ASCP is an award winning, full-scale medical publisher of textbooks, reference manuals, slide atlases, audiovisual materials, and computer software—as well as membership newsletters and two prestigious journals: The American Journal of Clinical Pathology and LabMedicine.
