Phlebotomy training: May 2-4, 2007
ASCP sponsored a Phlebotomy training workshop for 16 phlebotomists in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 3 day event consisted of didactic and hands on venipuncture experience. The workshop was facilitated by ASCP consultants Kathleen Finnegan, MS,MT(ASCP)SH and Catherine Murphy-Vetter,MS,MT(ASCP)SCT. Barbara Hoffman, MA, MT(ASCP) and Shannon Heard provided staff support and training coordination.
June and September 2007 Technical Assistance Trips
ASCP Consultants, Patricia J. Ellinger, MSEd, MT(ASCP)CMSBBCM and Dr. Kathleen McEnerney traveled throughout South Africa to provide technical assistance to the Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP). Ellinger and McEnerney helped facilitate a one day course on quality assurance as it relates to HIV patient monitoring. The participants participated in the one day course and will complete a quality assurance project within six months. |
