Phlebotomy training: May 8-11, 2007
ASCP sponsored a Phlebotomy training workshop for 16 non-phlebotomists in Manzini, Swaziland. The 4 day event consisted of didactic and hands on venipuncture experience. The workshop was facilitated by ASCP consultants Kathleen Finnegan, MS,MT(ASCP)SH and Catherine Murphy-Vetter,MS,MT(ASCP)SCT. Barbara Hoffman, MA, MT(ASCP) and Shannon Heard provided staff support and training coordination.

Phlebotomy training: August 2007
Kathleen Finnegan, MS, MT (ASCP) SH returned to Swaziland in August to conduct two more ASCP sponsored phlebotomy training workshops. Finnegan facilitated two sessions (August 1 – 3 and August 6 – 8) with the help of recent graduate and ASCP student member, Tiffany Channer, B.S., MT(ASCP). Thirty-two laboratory professionals participated in didactic lectures and hands-on venipuncture during the two sessions.
