Why should I choose ASCP GYN PT™?
By the end of 2005, all slides to be used by ASCP were field validated and will continue to be field validated as part of ASCP's ongoing quality process. The ASCP GYN PT™ Committee will oversee a blinded referee process and serve as peer reviewers for each new slide. Also, the delivery of the ASCP GYN PT™ ensures confidentiality, convenience and comprehensive reports.

What PT options do I have?
You have two options with ASCP:
- ASCP GYN PT™, a stand alone GYN PT
- ASCP GYN PT and Lab Comparison™, a solution that fulfills all gynecological/cytology proficiency testing and laboratory accreditation requirements (meets CAP accreditation requirements for interlaboratory comparison).

Who must take the GYN PT?
- All laboratories who perform any GYN-screening or sign-out of cases.
- All individuals who screen or sign-out GYN cases:
- Cytotechnologists
- Pathologists

When will the 2006 ASCP GYN PT™ testing begin?
As of March 2006, ASCP will start taking enrollments. Testing dates will be determined based on your preferred dates.

How are the ASCP GYN PT™ results reported?
ASCP reports all laboratory and participant enrollments to CMS. Results are reported to CMS and to the laboratory director(s) provided on the participant's enrollment form. Individual results are available through laboratory directors or CMS. Individual results will be kept at ASCP for a period of 5 years.

How do I get my results?
Results will be sent to your laboratory director by DHL delivery. To ensure confidentiality, results are never faxed.

Are the PT results kept confidential?
ASCP ensures that all test results are kept strictly confidential by ASCP and its employees. ASCP will release results only to CMS and designated laboratory directors.

What happens if someone fails the test?
If the 1st 10-slide test is failed, the participant will be retested with another 10-slide test sent to their facility within 45 days. If 45 days have passed and the test is not taken again, you must contact CMS directly at 410-786-3531.

Any updates for 2006?
If the 2nd test is failed, the participant is retested with a 20-slide glass slide test within 45 days of notification of failure. Retesting will take place either at the ASCP testing facility or the individual may opt to be tested at the original facility at an additional cost. The second option was approved by CMS with the condition that an ASCP Proctor be present for all 20-slide retesting events, thus requiring travel to your facility.

You have the option to use your laboratory's proctor or to use ASCP GYN PT™ staff.

When will I be notified as to whether I passed or failed?
Testing results will be sent to the laboratory director within 15 business days of receipt of the returned PT testing material.

The ASCP GYN glass slide education program is ASCP GYN Assessment™. With the glass slide program you earn up to 13 CEs and meet requirements for laboratory accreditation.
